Who We Need:

The Research Analyst role will work closely with our Director, Custom Solutions to support our business-to-business research initiatives, ensuring they are conducted in a thoughtful and comprehensive manner to meet client objectives. The role requires strong experience of market research techniques in all stages of the project life cycle, from proposal to presentation. This role will work collaboratively with other senior leaders of the business to drive new pathways to successful and profitable business results.

What You'll Do:

  • As part of a team, manage custom research methodology and initiatives
  • Work with data to create strong stories that deliver to the client’s brief
  • Anticipate client needs through intimate familiarity with the business, and their unique challenges/opportunities, and proactively engage on a continual basis to help foster a sense of partnership and to generate business opportunity
  • Contribute innovative ideas, business cases, and proof of concepts that can create value for the business
  • Support team execution and delivery on all aspects of primary research, including both qualitative and quantitative methods, with a strong emphasis on delivering insights/results with impact
  • Partner with our Operations lead and technology partners to constantly optimize and develop products, service models, and execution. Maintain a constant emphasis on improvement and innovation in order to demonstrate lasting value

The Capabilities and Skills That Matter:

  • Experience in developing end-to-end research methodology and processes
  • Stakeholder / business navigation: from commercial leaders to technical and program management teams, you must be adept at understanding the value of collaboration in delivering sustainable business change
  • A strong delivery mindset and ability to anticipate and navigate hurdles, roadblocks, and risks
  • Highly adaptable to changing circumstances, diverse projects and shifting priorities – comfortable managing uncertainty
  • Can operate both tactically and strategically – often at the same time
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to manage relationships and build rapport across all levels of the organization and with a diverse set of cultures and nationalities
  • Intrapreneurial drive – gets excited about making businesses stronger through projects, products, realignment, process enhancements
  • Critical thinker, able to understand and respond to complex questions from clients and lead the development of research plans as well as deliver game-changing insights
  • Passion for research in multiple areas of specialization/across the product and services lifecycle

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a data analytics and market-insights role
  • Superior MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Data Visualization. Ideal would be proficiency in Tableau and other software reporting tools
  • Exposure to and knowledge of the Retail, CPG and grocery industries

Considered an Asset:

  • Programming and/or knowledge in: SQL, R, Python, SAS and other data mining programming tools.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI
  • Experience working in markets outside of North America

Characteristics:

  • An analytical mind with a high attention to detail and inclination to venture beyond the obvious data to dig out insights and land a story that drives strategic action
  • Passionate about the CPG and grocery retail landscape, with an understanding of the main trends and challenges that the industry is facing
  • Strong Communication & Storytelling skills (written and verbal). Comfortable presenting to and delivering recommendations to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive and curious. Takes initiative to come up with own hypothesis and proposals for further insights exploration, identifying opportunities for commercial case studies and data-driven thought leadership
  • Ability to work with a great sense of urgency while maintaining high standards and a connection to deliverables.
  • Ability to mobilize and leverage other team members to collaborate on high impact projects
  • Ability to be proactive and recommend improved approaches over current processes. An interest and willingness to learn new tools.
